Some weddings stay with you long after the invitations have been mailed and the day is over.
Samantha and Brian’s wedding at Eisenhower House in Newport, Rhode Island was one of those weddings.
Set on the waterfront overlooking Narragansett Bay, their celebration combined everything I love about a coastal New England wedding: timeless architecture, soft blue details, fresh greenery, sailboats in the distance, and a couple who spent the entire day smiling.
From the moment Samantha walked down the aisle, surrounded by her bridesmaids in soft blue gowns, there was an unmistakable feeling of joy. The ceremony lawn at Eisenhower House provided a stunning backdrop as the couple exchanged vows overlooking the water before celebrating with family and friends beneath a sailcloth tent on the grounds.
One of my favorite parts of their wedding was creating custom watercolor stationery featuring a painting of Eisenhower House. The venue illustration appeared throughout the wedding weekend, tying together the invitation suite and day-of details while celebrating a place that held special meaning for the couple.
The reception design embraced a fresh coastal palette of soft blues, crisp whites, and lush greenery. Patterned linens, blue glassware, candlelight, and thoughtful paper details created a look that felt elegant yet relaxed — perfectly suited to a summer celebration by the sea.
As a stationer, it’s always rewarding to see how custom artwork becomes part of a wedding story. Years later, the watercolor venue painting remains a keepsake that captures not only the location, but the memories made there.
And one of the sweetest parts of this story? After her wedding, Samantha joined the team at Kate Murtaugh Event Design. Since then, we’ve had the opportunity to collaborate on additional weddings together, making this one feel even more special when I look back on it.
Samantha and Brian’s wedding is a beautiful reminder that sometimes the relationships built during a wedding extend far beyond the wedding day itself.
