There are few wedding venues as iconic as the Boston Public Library.
With its grand marble staircases, historic reading rooms, sunlit courtyard, and timeless architecture, the library feels less like a venue and more like a destination. Every corner offers a sense of history and romance, making it one of Boston’s most sought-after wedding locations.
For Brooke and Teddy’s celebration, the design centered around the venue itself.

Rather than relying on traditional wedding motifs, we created custom artwork inspired by the library’s stunning courtyard. The watercolor illustration became a thread woven throughout the entire wedding experience, appearing first on the Save the Date before carrying through the invitation suite and day-of details.

The invitation suite paired soft blush tones with sage green accents, deckled-edge paper, and delicate venue illustrations that hinted at the celebration to come. A translucent wrap featuring the custom courtyard artwork added a layer of texture and anticipation while allowing the architecture of the Boston Public Library to take center stage.

One of my favorite details was how the artwork extended beyond the paper goods. Guests encountered the illustration throughout the event—from the invitation suite to the escort card display and reception details—creating a seamless visual story from beginning to end.
The ceremony took place in the library’s breathtaking courtyard, where classical arches surround a central fountain and formal gardens. The architecture provided an elegant backdrop that required very little embellishment. Soft white florals and blush accents complemented the stonework without competing with it.

As the evening continued, guests gathered in the historic reading room for dinner and dancing beneath the library’s signature green banker lamps. Long wooden tables, candlelight, and lush floral arrangements transformed the space while still preserving the character that makes the room so unforgettable.

Boston Public Library weddings have a unique ability to feel both grand and intimate at the same time. The architecture carries a sense of permanence and history, while the courtyard and reading rooms create moments that feel deeply personal.
For couples planning a Boston Public Library wedding, incorporating custom venue artwork can be a meaningful way to celebrate the location and create heirloom pieces that extend beyond the wedding day itself.

If you’re searching for Boston Public Library wedding inspiration, I hope Brooke and Teddy’s celebration offers ideas for blending historic architecture, thoughtful details, and personalized artwork into a cohesive wedding experience.
